A Marathon is not a marathon...

A Marathon is not a marathon – it is NOT a physical challenge – it is NOT about Jogging – it is NOT about a race….

Friends – a Marathon is all about the strength of the human spirit and our ability to triumph over adversity

It is about making tough goals -consistently chasing & training yourself for the goal –and do whatever is required to achieve it

It's all about the commitment to the training, the lifestyle, the aches and pains that come with the weeks of training. Runners all have great days and terrible days but they continue to train and commit to making themselves better. They know that every extra mile will help them get to the finish line.

In business - it's not one successful deal or achievement that determines a career but the ability of a professional to consistently perform and improve the bottom line over time that matters. True business training comes from consistently learning from your environment and experiences.

It's all about what we do everyday that will help us reach our goals, one great day isn't enough to carry us across the finish line – in marathon or business.

Friends – Lets chase some marathon goal in life – a marathon doesn’t have to be ONLY running marathon – every project you do - every habit you change is a marathon…
Five most interesting & unique things I personally like about marathon are:

1- Pleasure of Participation
2- Control your pace / Controlled use of your energy
3- Incremental Consistency in efforts (training)
4- Taking new challenge every year
5- No competition – you compete with yourself
6- Unmatched Passion & Focus

Friends- we are fortunate to have a live example between us – Prakashji – I “Salute” his spirit – I have never seen or heard from him that he is preparing for marathon – yet every year he is beating himself – he is a true fighter – a true marathoner - I really admire the ease and simple way in which he does this every year - “Hats off to Prakashji” :)

Dipy & I had promised him 2 years back that we will also run with him in next marathon – 2 marathon’s have passed since – No action at our end L

This time (yesterday) we both have made a promise – WE WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE NEXT MARATHON – COME WHAT MAY – Dipy has promised to run 7 kms J - I am yet to decide on distance – but I will participate…
Thanks Prakash ji for inspiring us… for the marathon & for the ease and simplicity with which you do everything…

And not to forget – for the bhel puri we have whenever we meet – and your spirit – and the spirit in the glass :)

Talk to God… and then listen...

Communication is vital to your relationship with God, just as it is with any other relationship.

Talk to Him...

Treat God like a parent, friend, guru or mentor. Tell him what you are thinking and how you are feeling. He wants to know what you think of things that are going on in your life and they are affecting you.

Talk to him loud (when you are alone) or silently - he's always listening…

Listen to Him...

The most common to listen to him is through reading. By reading will give you direction, insight and clarification.

Another way is through other people - primarily our guru & parents. And then through - our close family - friends - colleagues, etc.

The third way is through “a still, small voice”. Listen to yourself - that voice or feeling from inside – your instinct - your gut feel - what your heart speaks to you...

God will talk to us - ONLY if we ask - And then listen.

Making time and space to communicate with God

Keep talking to God as if he is your friend or guru - make it a habit and priority. We can keep an ongoing conversation with God all the day and night.

7 habits to help you build your faith

  1.  Pray - regularly or whenever you get time
  2.  Spend time in meditation and contemplation
  3.  Read scripture and other inspirational writings
  4.  Listen to uplifting music
  5.  Spend some time in nature
  6.  Spend time with other spiritual people
  7.  Believe in yourself and others

Good Day Friends :)

What are you chasing???

Friends - Ask yourself - What would you be so passionate about doing - that you would do it for 10 years without earning a single rupee?

It is crucial to have a vision that goes beyond money and profits. Don’t begin anything in life with the objective to earn money.
Do what you are passionate about OR find passion in what you are doing - and as you will do it well, the money will follow.

Every time you want to do something - Keep asking why???

Ask yourself what you are pursuing in life: buying a home? getting married? Once you have the answers, ask why again. Why do you want to buy a house? Why do you want to get married?

Eventually, everyone ends up with the same answer about what they pursue in life: happiness.

What makes you Happy???

1. Perceived control
2. Perceived progress
3. Connectiveness
4. Meaning (being part of something bigger than yourself)

What is Happiness???

Happiness is - pleasure, engagement and meaning.
Most people start looking for the first one, hoping to then be able to reach the others, which is the wrong way to go.

- Pleasure is for example about buying new things. It works well, but only as long as you can sustain it.
- Engagement is about feeling passionate about what you are doing. It works better than pleasure, but is not sustainable either.
- Meaning is about finding in life what provides happiness in the long term. Finding meaning creates a long-lasting feeling of happiness.

Friends - Don’t chase the money – It will run away…

Chase a DREAM – EXPERIENCE the life – BE PASSIONATE about whatever you are doing – MONEY will follow…

Only for Today...

Friends – each one of us want to live a better – happier life – BUT we can’t – because we always allow ourselves to become overwhelmed and discouraged by imagining and assuming about Life’s challenges and possible outcomes.

Friends – Let’s change this - Let’s live – “ONLY FOR TODAY” – let’s try the following:

1. Only for today, I will seek to live positively without wishing to solve the problems of my life all at once.

2. Only for today, I will take the greatest care of my appearance: I will dress modestly; I will not raise my voice; I will be courteous in my behavior; I will not criticize anyone; I will not claim to improve or to discipline anyone except myself.

3. Only for today, I will be happy because I was given birth to be happy.

4. Only for today, I will adapt to circumstances, without requiring all circumstances to be adapted to my wishes.

5. Only for today, I will devote 10+ minutes of my time to some good reading, remembering that just as food is necessary to body, so good reading is necessary to the life mind and soul.

6. Only for today, I will do one good deed and not tell anyone about it.

7. Only for today, I will do at least one thing I do not like doing; and if my feelings are hurt, I will make sure that no one notices.

8. Only for today, I will make a plan for myself: I may not follow it to the letter, but I will make it. And I will be on guard against two evils: hastiness and indecision.

9. Only for today, I will firmly believe, despite appearances, that God cares for me as no one else who exists in this world.

10. Only for today, I will have no fears. In particular, I will not be afraid to enjoy what is beautiful and to believe in goodness.

Friends – you can read this everyday of your life and focus on one or more of the above each day.

Today I will focus on#2: "I will not claim to improve or to discipline anyone except myself." That's a good resolution. It often seems as though I'd be happy if only other people would behave properly!

But the truth is, the only person I can really "improve or discipline" is myself.

Which of the above ten do you want to focus on TODAY??

I Love Mistakes... Do You???

Friends – When was the last you tried to make a mistake???

Generally people are not a fan of making mistakes. They think this idea of making mistake is WEIRD and encouraging mistakes is true MADNESS.

Friends - Do you sometimes feel like you have reached a plateau at work? You are not being challenged anymore. Or, you are not doing the things that would challenge you???

Why does this condition arise???
Because we are afraid that if you do what you really want to do you will get in trouble.

What would happen if you got in trouble?
Someone will shout at you. Or let somebody down. Actually - You don’t even want to think about it. You’d rather not try to do anything too big because if you make a mistake, you would feel terrible.

Whether a blessing or a shortcoming, I’m a fan of mistakes. I make mistakes - everyday.

Friends - Any real, hard work - especially change work - we do has the potential to upset someone.

If you’re mistake phobic, set a goal to make one mistake per day for a week. Just try it out!

Here are some possible mistakes you can make to get you started (be innovative - add your own) -

Burn Anything - Give yourself permission to burn something. It feels good. Make the mistake with confidence. Go ahead and turn the burner up a bit too high on an egg and walk away. This doesn’t have to turn into a huge ball of flames. You can turn down the burner. Once it’s burnt to a crisp.

Be Late - Last week my friend was running late to meet me for dinner. I was running late, too. So I said, ‘Hey, if we’re both running late and we’re only meeting each other, we’re on time!” Be a little late today.

Forget Something - When you run back home (or to the store) to get whatever you forgot, notice something new.

Reversing our route often reveals something new we’ve been missing. Use it as a time to practice mindfulness.

Too much focus on "getting it right" keeps us from "getting to the heart."

Mistakes are life's mulch - A protective covering to reduce evaporation and soil erosion. They let you breathe a bit. They make life richer, give you room to grow. It's summer, enjoy making some mistakes while the earth is soft, fertile and able to catch you when you fall.

Remember – there cannot be any freshness, creation, innovation, growth – without a Mistake.

Go on, now. Make a mistake - discover / experience / learn something new - Enjoy and celebrate your Mistake!!! :)

Life on Autopilot???

"I automate my processes whenever possible to complete more tasks in less time."

Imagine a situation where:

- Your automated tasks make you a role model of efficiency.
- You can process a large number of details and tasks in a single day without going into meltdown.
- You consistently analyze what you do -- regardless how large or small -- and look for ways to automate each of the steps.
- You have a standardized procedure for doing most things; therefore, they become automatic and effortless.
- You have stress-free sufficient time for more enjoyable and rewarding activities.

"There are no menial jobs, only menial attitudes."

Learning how to organize your work and automate your tasks may take a little more effort.
Just keep in mind the time benefits that new systems will bring you.

Automate ALL Repetitive Procedures – and shift major part of your tasks to AUTOPILOT

- Be SYSTEMATIC! Which one of your projects cries out for more attention?
- Be PROCEDURAL! What's one of the things you've been wanting to do with your extra time? Plan and Do it now!
- Be ORGANIZED! What's the most productive use of your extra time this week?

The greater the number of tasks you complete in a given period of time, the more productive you are. Whenever you automate your repetitive tasks -- by creating systems and processes, or through new tools or technology -- you increase the number of tasks you can complete overtime.

Any investment made in time, effort, money or resources to automate recurrent tasks will be paid back in increased productivity and efficiency every time thereafter.

Good Day Friends :)
